Who We Are Israel Up Close is a nonprofit organization dedicated to informing and educating people throughout the world about Israel and Israelis, their daily lives, contributions to the world, humanitarian efforts, diversity and democratic processes. Our videos draw attention to Israel's contributions to mankind in disciplines such as science, medicine, technology, agriculture and environmental conservation. They also showcase the diversity of Israelis, Israel's democratic processes, and its relation to Jewish communities around the world.What We Do We provide a free resource for media and educational institutions to enhance Israel's image around the world. Since 2004, Israel Up Close has produced 93 concise, high quality video news reports. The positive stories in these reports are devoid of commentary, politics and conflict. We distribute these reports to television broadcasters, synagogues, schools and other religious and secular organizations to view, and to use in instructional programs. The reports have been aired by Television broadcasters like CNN International (World Country Reports program), Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA News and IBA Closeup), LeSEA Broadcasting and local cable TV stations in America. Our reports and programs have been utilized by schools and organizations located in many countries around the world as far away as Hong Kong, the Czech Republic, Australia, Spain and Norway. These organizations are as diverse as the United States Naval Academy and MIFF, a Norwegian peace organization, and include: Public high schools Jewish days schools Universities and college campuses Resource and Learning Centers Church events Jewish libraries Jewish, Christian and advocacy organizations Lobbyists to U.S. and European legislators We are told by many people who have visited Israel, and by Israelis, that they were not aware of the subject matter in half of our stories. Viewers' testimonials attest to the value of Israel Up Close as a great tool for information and for building a positive image of Israel and Jewry. Why We Do It We live in an era where the news and the educational systems are dominated by a strong anti-Israel bias. Reports involving Israel, particularly on TV, are most often slanted against Israel. Israel Up Close was born out of the need to provide positive facts and reports to counter these biases. Our videos meet that need. They are interesting and informative about Israel and its citizens, highlighting their daily lives and achievements, their global humanitarian efforts and their endeavors to peacefully co-exist with their Arab neighbors. These stories are available to educators in both private and public institutions, to libraries and to all advocates for Israel. All our video news reports educate and inform. There is no commentary and no propaganda. They cover a broad spectrum of Israeli life. While there are other organization that make films about Israel, Israel Up Close is unique. We provide a written curriculum for adults (educators) as well as both college and high school students. If not for Israel Up Close, most of these positive stories about Israel would never reach the mass media in the diaspora.
