I have lived and vacationed in a number of countries with guides to the Lonely Planet, and have always found them extremely useful. With this new guide, “Best Lonely Planet in Travel 2009: 850 Trends, Destinations, Travels and Experiences for the Year Ahead,” I found it very enjoyable for a variety of reasons.
I’ve always liked how Lonely Planet guides had tons of information about places I lived or visited. However, I sometimes wish they had more color photos, such as some other handbooks available. In this guide “Best In Travel 2009” there is no depth for each country, such as country guides, but interesting places around the world. And this book is full of colorful pictures.
This is a beautifully laid out book with lots of gorgeous photos. Combine photos with brief descriptions of places around the globe, and you have a great book for magazines and text that will inspire you to plan your next trip. What I like most about this book is that it helps create ideas of places and things I want to do.
The book is full of chalk. Top 10 countries, top 10 regions, top 10 cities and so on. I don’t know if I agree with the top 10 in each of these categories, and you may not, but it doesn’t matter. Use the book to inspire you to travel to new places and create ideas and opportunities. Even if you don’t go to the places listed, you will be more aware of what’s out there and the places you can explore. If you enjoy traveling, you’ll enjoy browsing the ideas in this book.
